Dennis Mbelenzi won the PEI Marathon Sunday with a record time of 2:30:23. The Halifax runner, originally from Kenya, is on track to run 4 marathons in 2021 — PEI was his third. The first woman to cross the finish line was Rachel Barich, a UPEI student whose time came in at 2:56:55. Remarkably, it was Barich’s first ever marathon.
